“Would Ashe get along with the Wolves?” This may not be the most pressing question in Fire Emblem lore, but as someone who is actively invested in AsheYuri, it’s important to me. The Wolves are hands down the most important people to Yuri aside from his mother, so anyone dating Yuri would benefit from a good relationship with the Wolves.
Three Houses gave us a fantastic AsheHapi support. They’re both characters who’ve dealt with tragic circumstances/being screwed over by the system, but reacted to it in different ways. Hapi is very cynical. Ashe isn’t naive, but he wants to be a knight and change the system from within as implied in his supports with Dedue in Three Hopes. Yet they bond other their love of risque stories (ooh la la) and Hapi wants to make sure he doesn’t get burnt out helping others. They get married in their ending. Unsurprisingly, I walked away from playing the Three Houses post-Wave 4 DLC with AsheHapi as my het OTP for Ashe.
The AsheYuri support chain in Three Hopes was everything we could have wanted. I could talk for ages about it—and their meal lines, training lines, chore lines, and that PARALOGUE. But that’s not what this page is about. Let’s talk about the two Wolves that Ashe sadly did not get a support with, Constance and Balthus.
Despite both being included in Cindered Shadows, I unfortunately don’t believe Ashe and Constance shared even an exchange together (correct me if I am wrong). Constance, despite her noble background and bombastic mannerisms, is more similar to Ashe than one may realize at first. They’ve both dealt with hardship as children with no one to rely on but themselves. While Ashe lucked out and met Lonatao, Constance lucked out and met the Wolves. Both of them work way too hard to prove themselves/help others. And while Ashe is not a dramatic person, he’s also in love with Yuri, so he must like dramatic types deep down.
I think he and Coco would get along. He might be a little scared of her magic acting up lol, but I do think he would admire her and help her out on sunny days.
We do get an exchange between Ashe and Balthus in Cindered Shadows. Ashe admits that he assumed Balthus was a knight at first because of his age. He must have been so disappointed once Balthus started acting like Balthus. This two would definitely bicker. Ashe is not uptight, but he has a strong work ethic and values prudence. Balthus gambles all the time and pines for MILFs. So, because Ashe didn’t learn a damn thing from Yuri, he would try to lecture Balthus into being more careful with his life and his money. Baltie wouldn’t let that fly. However, I think once Ashe got to see that Balthus is also protective and independent, his feelings would soften. They’d soften even further when Ashe learns how much Balthus has given up to protect his little brother.
Also, they’re looking at each other at one point at the camp for Golden Wildfire and that always gives me hope that they’d get along. While I don’t ship Ashe/Coco, I do ship Ashe/Balthus as a crack pairing. (And the size difference.)
So, yeah! Ashe is a friendly guy, especially if the person he wants to befriend is seen as ‘difficult’ or ‘scary’ by others in some way. I have no doubt that over time he’d be as close to Coco and B as Yuri and Hapi are.
(One final note: If Fire Emblem Heroes ever has Ashe interact with Constance and/or Balthus, I’ll add my thought about that to this page.)
